Edo 2020; Despite 9 Against 11, Team Delta Fail To Defeat Lagos
By Omolagba Oluwayemi
Describing his team's performance against team Delta in the first female football event which ended 2-2 despite his side playing all the match with 9 players as against Delta's 11, coach of the Lagos female football team Olowu Olayinka has said that they're in Edo state to pick the gold medal.
"We really tried because we played 9 against 11 which happened because some of our players left to attend to other things due to the postponement of the festival but are on their way to join us and in our second match, we should have a full house."
The Lagos team played the entire duration with 9 players, no substitute on the bench and were even 2-1 up before late equaliser salvaged a point for team Delta.
"Playing 2-2 with 9 ladies against Delta's 11 means the girls really tried. I believe in them and that showed in today's match despite the disadvantages we had and I believe if we'd played with all our players today, we would've beaten the Delta side hands down, he added.
Olowu also assured Lagosians while speaking to our correspondence that the gold medal is for team Lagos.
"I can assure everyone in Lagos and here at the festival that the gold in the female football category is for team Lagos."
He concluded by heaping some praises on today's opponent and the officiating;
"Delta played well and I think they're good for themselves and the officiating is good as well."
Team Lagos will next face Team Kwara on Friday.
